Lemonade Berry

Lemonade berry is an evergreen shrub well-adapted to the chaparral region. As the chaparral is not frequented by rain, the lemonade berry has adapted to conserve its water. The waxy surface of their leathery leaves is hydrophobic, essentially trapping water in the leaves. For more effective and sustainable waterproof materials, a synthetic wax coating based on lemonade berries may be developed.
